Born on January 19, 1943, in Jordan, Farouk immigrated to the United States in the 1960s, where he built his life.
Farouk met the love of his life, Linda Oetman, in 1970. They sealed their bond in marriage the following year. Together they raised their sons, Peter and James, in Zeeland, Michigan. Farouk’s entrepreneurial spirit flourished as he owned and operated the Jean Shop store in Zeeland during the 1970s, and later co-owned the Windmill Restaurant in Holland during the 1980s. Farouk also worked in production for many years at Haworth.
Farouk, particularly cherished outdoor gatherings where he could showcase his grilling skills and engage in friendly games of horseshoes. A true Sunday morning tradition, he delighted his loved ones with the fluffiest eggs, creating cherished memories around the breakfast table.
Farouk will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. Farouk is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Karachy; his son, Peter and Wendy (Fraser) Karachy; granddaughter, Starana Sligh; great-grandson, Messiah; as well as extended family and friends. Farouk was preceded in death by his son, James Karachy in 2022.
Visitation with the Karachy family will be from 3-6 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. The funeral service will be 11:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the funeral home.
