LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Three more legacy license plates will be returning to roads in Michigan.
A bill sponsored by Senator Mallory McMorrow has been sent to Governor Whitmer to bring back the black and white plate from 1979 to 1983; the blue and white plate that was used from 1983 to 1987; and the red, white, and blue plate issued in 1976 for the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. That plate will only be issued in 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration’s signing.
A $50 plate fee will be required for the first year, and that will drop to $10 for renewal.
