OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 1, 2023) – For the second time in as many weeks, an Ottawa County elected official has opted for retirement instead of another four-year term in office.
On Wednesday, Amanda Price announced that she will not seek reelection as the county’s treasurer, and that she will leave her office at the end of 2023. She was appointed to the position at the start of 2019 when Bradley Slagh stepped down to become a Michigan House Representative, and won her own term in office the following year.
Price, who had been a three-term state legislator in the Lower Chamber, has been in government service as a legislative aide to state senators Arlan Meekhof and Patty Birkholz, as well as in her hometown Park Township as a planning commissioner, trustee and supervisor.
“After decades of public service at the local, state and county level, my personal priorities have changed, and it is time for me to step away from a full time role. I want to thank my staff in the Treasurer’s office for their support and professionalism. They truly are dedicated stewards of the financial resources of Ottawa County residents, carrying out their responsibilities with excellence and compassion for our citizens.” – Amanda Price
Price’s retirement comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that Lee Fisher is not seeking reelection as Ottawa County’s Prosecuting Attorney. Ironically, both are leaving after just one term in office.
Fisher, along with Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck, and Probate Court Chief Judge Mark Feyen, will conduct interviews and appoint a replacement to serve the remaining year of Price’s current term, through the end of 2024.
