HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 29, 2023) – Classes for the 162nd Academic Year at Hope College begin on Tuesday morning.
School President Matthew Scogin tried to assure the 800-plus new students that attended the Opening Convocation at DeVos Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon about what they will be facing.
Although exact enrollment numbers won’t be made known until the middle of next month, Hope officials are predicting a large incoming Class of 2027, along with a substantial number of transfer students. These projections are based on a second straight year of record applications, with 5,206 for 2023 following 5,151 applying last fall, and overall enrollment could approach 3,300. Hope had deliberately cut down on admissions this year in the hopes of stabilizing enrollment.
Classes for the fall semester run through December 15th, while the spring semester is from January 8th to May 3rd, and the Commencement Exercise is set for May 5th.
