ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Consumers Energy is set to host a community meeting next week to discuss the future of Allegan County’s Calkins Bridge Dam.
Last year, Consumers Energy held a series of public meetings with community members and local leaders concerning the status of 13 dams as it announced it was exploring the possibility of selling the hydroelectric facilities. Consumers officials say the energy provider continues to evaluate the future of the dams as it considers what they say are all options to safely maintain the reservoirs and reduce costs for customers.
The meeting specifically for the Calkins Bridge Dam is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29 in the Performing Arts Center at Allegan High School at 1560 M-40 in Allegan.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting set to begin at 6 p.m.
