HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 2, 2023) – There were some anxious moments on Tuesday for a Grand Junction family when an 85-year-old woman went missing, but in the end, there was apparently a happy ending.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, Ella Mae Wellington had left her home between 8:30 AM and 11 AM, leaving a note behind saying that she was headed to Holland, possibly to a branch of her bank. By 7:30 PM, she had not returned home, although her vehicle was spotted on Holland’s South Side a couple of times between 1:30 PM and 2 PM.
An Endangered Person alert had been issued by the Michigan State Police, and just before 11 PM, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department notified authorities that Wellington was found safe, and she was returned home to her family. No other details as to the circumstances that led not only to her disappearance, but also to her discovery, were disclosed.
