HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 1, 2023) – A night for bonding between the community and local police is on this Tuesday evening.
From 5:30 to 8 PM in Holland, officers will be joined by local food trucks, a DJ, and over 20 community organizations at Kollen Park.
Sergeant John Weatherwax heads up the the Holland Department of Public Safety Police Services Community Policing Unit.
National Night Out aims to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie, according to organizers of this nationwide initiative that began in 1984, with Holland’s Community Policing beginning 10 years later.
Events such as this also helps when police-community relations are strained by events elsewhere.
