FERRYSBURG, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 6, 2023) – An alternative to the popular Lake Michigan public beaches in Ottawa County is off limits for the time being.
The county’s Department of Public Health announced on Thursday that a No Body Contact Advisory is in place for the waters off of North Beach County Park near Ferrysburg. Work on dredging operations nearby has apparently led to elevated levels of E. coli, which routine testing done on Wednesday indicated, and the advisory will remain until further tests show that those levels have receded.
No other areas are affected by this operation. North Beach has long been seen as a less-congested spot for enjoying the Lake Michigan shoreline to that of Holland State Park, Grand Haven State Park, Tunnel Park and Hoffmaster State Park.
