HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 17, 2023) – A 35-year-old Allendale man remains in the Ottawa County Jail following a felonious assault in the area of 60th Avenue just north of Lake Michigan Drive on Sunday afternoon.
Brian Witte was arraigned on Tuesday before Hudsonville District Court Judge Judith Mulder, who ordered him held on $50,000 bond on five felony charges.
Deputies were dispatched around 1:15 PM on a report that shots were fired in the front yard of a residence across from a shopping plaza. The area was cordoned off while various law enforcement entities, including a Canine Unit from the Holland Department of Public Safety’s Police Services, were deployed to look for a Caucasian about six feet tall, with brown hair, and wearing a blue shirt with black pants, who was seen fleeing the area on foot eastbound.
About an hour after the incident occurred, Witte was seen by deputies walking in the vicinity of 56th Avenue and Rich Street, and was subsequently taken into custody without further incident. There were no initial reports of any injuries during the initial assault and subsequent search.
The incident remains under investigation.
