Alicia Cruz has been called home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at her home in Hamilton surrounded by family. Alicia was born on Jan. 5 1944 in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico to a Pastor father and a teacher mother. Alicia was one of 13 siblings.
Alicia was a woman of God and put only Him above her family. She was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and an especially proud wife. Alicia would do anything for the people she loved, and the list was long. She loved spending time camping, traveling, gardening, and watching novelas. In her younger years, Alicia was in a bowling league and was a gifted ceramics artist. Alicia loved collecting roosters and all of her grandchildren would gift her roosters regularly. Alicia will be remembered and missed dearly.
Alicia is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Santos, her daughter Priscilla Cruz-Potter and son-in-law Curt Potter, daughter Cynthia Cruz, Jesse Cruz; grandchildren, Victoriano Cruz (Kristin Timmer), David Potter, Angelo Betancourt (Erin Benson), Ellester Brooks Jr. (Nicole Brooks), Isaiah Brooks (Brandy Kauman). Ellexis Brooks (Myking Burton), Jesse Cruz Jr., Vanessa Cruz (Royo Roblin), and Julian Cruz (Nabil Gutierrez); great-grandchildren, Bailey Cruz, Brielle Cruz, Bevin Cruz, Noah Brooks, Nikkell Brooks, Layla Roblin, Camila Franco, Arlo Betancourt, Ralo Betancourt, Oliver Cruz, Elias Burton, and Elianna Burton; brother, Sam (Linda) Macias, David (Lindy) Macias and John Macias, sisters Ruth (Alfonzo) Marin and Lidia (Joel) Rodriguez; brothers-in-law, Joe (Olga) Cruz, Eric Bennett, and Joe Mendez; sisters-in-law, Ramona (Manuel) Cazares and Margaret Cruz, Shirley Davis along with numerous nephews and nieces whom she dearly loved.
Alicia was preceded in death by her father and mother, Juan and Romona Macias, Grand-daughter Ashley Cruz, siblings Gamaiel Macias, Joshua Macias, Saul Macias, Antonio (Jennie) Macias, Elizabeth (Guadalupe) Cruz, Martha Mendez, Miriam Bennett; brothers-in-law, Max (Lidia) Cruz, Alfred (Guillermina) Velma, Guadalupe (Elizabeth) Cruz, Jesse Brown and sisters-in-law, Delphine Ornelas, Irene (Rudy Garcia) Betty Cruz many other loved ones.
A visitation will take place on Friday, April 28 from 4-7 pm at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 W 32nd Street. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 29 at 11:00 am at Family Church – Ebenezer Campus, 5166 Ottogan Street in Holland.
