CLYDE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Around 250 acres have been scorched in a wildfire in Allegan County Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started in the Allegan State Game Area near Ely Lake Campground in Clyde Township.
Michigan Department of Natural Resources fire prevention specialist Paul Rogers says nearly 75-percent of all fires in Michigan annually happen around this time of the year and adds winds were blowing at 30 miles an hour, helping to fuel the flames.
They have not yet determined the cause, but Rogers says there was a red flag warning against doing any burning.
