LANSING, MI (WKZO-AM/FM) – The repeal of the state’s right to work law is now heading to the desk of Governor Whitmer for her expected signature.
The state House gave final approval to the move on Tuesday to fulfill a promise made by majority Democrats to remove the law passed a decade ago. Right to work bans unions from requiring workers pay union dues or service fees as part of their employment conditions.
Whitmer was a state senator from East Lansing when the law passed in 2012 and vainly fought against it against a Republican-controlled Legislature and Governor’s Mansion. Now the tables are turned, and it’s Lawton’s Aric Nesbitt who vainly fought against this repeal as the current Senate Minority Leader.
