GALESBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Galesburg-Augusta first grader Colton Gale has been named a “Heart Hero” by the American Heart Association for his fundraising efforts.
Colton, who is autistic, raised over $2,000 dollars in the Kids Heart Challenge program, which teaches students about heart and brain health, ways to practice kindness and gratitude, and fun and simple ways to raise funds to protect all hearts – especially kids with special hearts.
Colton was the first student in the district’s history to have raised over $1000 in the program, and was honored in a special program, even having his building’s gym named after him.
He has now raised a total $2,053 since the school assembly through the completion of the fundraiser.
