In district finals tomorrow night, Holland Christian meets Hamilton at Hopkins, and Saugatuck takes on Western Michigan Christian at North Muskegon.
This evening, the boys’ regular season concludes with Zeeland East at Allendale, Zeeland West at Unity Christian, Saugatuck at Watervliet and Zion Christian at Black River.

Grand Valley State advanced in both the men’s and women’s GLIAC basketball tournaments with victories last night. In Sault Ste. Marie, Trevor Smith came off of the bench to score 13 points as the Lakers downed Lake Superior State’s men, 68-64. In Allendale, Emily Spitzley had 18 points as the Lakers defeated the visiting Purdue Northwest women, 60-43. In Saturday’s conference tournament semifinals, GVSU’s men face Michigan Tech in Big Rapids, and the women host Saginaw Valley State at the Fieldhouse Arena.
In state major-college basketball this evening, Michigan is at Illinois, Oakland is at Northern Kentucky, and Detroit is at Youngstown State.

In spring training action yesterday, the Detroit Tigers edged the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-7; the Chicago Cubs downed the Seattle Mariners, 5-3, and the Chicago White Sox fell to the Cleveland Guardians, 9-6.
