DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan’s gas prices are hitting a new low for the year just before drivers hit the road for the holidays.
AAA of Michigan reports that prices are down 17 cents from a week ago, and that drivers are paying an average of $3.07 per gallon for regular unleaded at the pump. That’s down 81 cents less than this time last month and 8 cents less than this time last year.
“As demand remains low and stocks grow, drivers will likely continue to see pump prices decrease through the holiday week,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.
Drivers are paying an average of $46 for a full 15-gallon tank, which is a discount of about $5 from 2021’s highest price last November, according to AAA.
Looking around Southwest Michigan the average price is currently the lowest in St. Joseph County at $2.95 per gallon for regular unleaded, $2.97 for Cass County, $3.05 per gallon in Van Buren County, $3.11 in Calhoun County, $3.14 for Allegan County, and $3.17 on average in Kalamazoo County. Right now in Southwest Michigan, drivers are paying the most in Barry County at $3.33 on average per gallon for regular unleaded.
Overall, Michigan is ranking below the National Average of $3.14 per gallon.
