WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — U.S. Representative Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph, announced on Friday November 18, the official closing of constituent correspondence operations after 36 years.
“Communicating with my constituents has always been a top priority for me,” Upton said in a statement. “Over my eighteen terms representing Southwest Michigan, my office has completed more than 1 million constituent inquiries. This includes emails, letters, phone calls, walk-ins, and yes, even a few faxes. I’ve always kept a close eye on what my constituents write- or call-in about, and have personally signed every outgoing letter by hand. I would note also that a handful of constituents have made good use of this service, one that is offered by every Member of Congress, by reaching out to me on more than 1,000 separate occasions.”
Upton’s current term will come to an end on January 3, 2023. Until then, he will continue his newsletter, @MyKitchenTable, as well as posts on social media.
