KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — If it seems like West Michigan got quite a bit of snow over the weekend, it did.
Forecasters across the state say the snowfall broke single-day high records for both Thursday, November 17 and Saturday, November 19.
The Grand Rapids National Weather Service measured 7.6″, surpassing the previous record of 7.1″ in 1989.
The Grand Rapids National Weather Service also tallied 8.7″ on Saturday, beating out the 4.3″ from 1969, marking Saturday’s snowfall as the 5th highest single day snowfall for any day in November.
As of 12 a.m. Sunday, 23.3″ inches of the white stuff had fallen according to the NWS, making a combined total of 27.3″ received in November, with 10 days left in the month to potentially accumulate more, and beat out the record of 31.0″ inches that was set in November of 2014.
And there wasn’t not much sight of the sun either as forecasters also reported a 1% possibility of that over the past four days as well.
