LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A single ticket sold in California won a Powerball jackpot worth $2.04 billion ($997.6 million cash) after matching all six numbers drawn, 10-33-41-47-56 and Powerball 10, in the delayed Monday, November 7 drawing.
The record-setting Powerball drawing was pushed to Tuesday morning after being delayed for nearly 10 hours due to one participating lottery needing additional time to process its sales and play data.
One lucky Michigan player matched the five white balls drawn to win a $1 million prize. The winning ticket was bought at the Country Corner Supermarket, located at 10039 Buchanan Road in Stanwood. Stanwood is about 10 miles south of Big Rapids.
The $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot set a world record for the largest prize ever won. The previous world record jackpot was $1.586 billion. That Powerball jackpot was won January 13, 2016 and was split by three winning tickets purchased in California, Florida, and Tennessee.
The last Michigan player to win a Powerball jackpot was Cristy Davis, of Waterford. Davis won the game’s $70 million jackpot on Feb. 12, 2020.
A $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot currently holds the record for the largest prize ever won in Michigan. That prize was won in January 2021 by an Oakland County lottery club and is the fifth largest prize won of all time.
