KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Avelo Airlines is suspending their newly announced non-stop Fort Myers flight due to destruction caused by Hurricane Ian. An Avelo Airlines made the announcement on Tuesday, October 18.
This will include routes out of Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport, Capitol Region International Airport out of Lansing, and others along the east coast.
The announcement for the Fort Myers destination was made on August 25.
For now, the airline will focus on their flights from Kalamazoo and Lansing to Orlando, through the Orlando International Airport, and plans to hold their inaugural flights out of Kalamazoo and Lansing on Wednesday, October 26, which they first announced on July 28.
Officials with the airline will continue to monitor rebuilding efforts in southwest Florida, and plan on moving aircraft based at South Florida International Airport to Orlando International Airport to improve schedules and fund growth.
Since April of 2021, Avelo has flown more than one million Customers on more than 8,500 flights.
