LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new survey of 640 likely general election voters in Michigan, commissioned by The White Law Firm and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, shows Republicans leading by 3-points on the generic congressional ballot, including a 9-point lead among high-propensity voters, while Governor Gretchen Whitmer maintains a 48-44% lead over Republican Tudor Dixon.
The statewide survey, conducted October 12-14, with a margin of error of ±3.86% , shows Independents moving towards the GOP, which could be further evidence of a volatile electorate in the closing weeks of the election.
Among other highlights of the poll:
A plurality of voters believe Michigan is on the wrong track (47%), and Independents are split 39-50% for right direction versus wrong track.
On the generic ballot for Congress, the Republican has a 3-point lead and a 9-point margin among high-interest voters (50-44).
Former President Donald Trump’s image (-10% net fav; 48% very unfavorable) is more favorable overall than President Biden’s (-12% net fav; 50% very unfavorable).
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has higher name identification, and her image (+3% net fav) was the highest of those tested. Tudor Dixon has a high name ID for a first-time candidates.
On the ballot for Governor, Whitmer/Gilchrest lead Dixon/Hernandez by only 4-points (48-44). Independents are split at 43%, while high-interest voters break for Dixon (48-47%).
On the ballot for Attorney General, Dana Nessel leads Matthew DePerno by 2-points (45-43). Nessel wins Independents (43-40%) while high-interest voters break for DePerno (46-47%).
On the ballot for Secretary of State, Joselyn Benson leads Kristina Karamo by 6-points (48-42). Benson wins Independents (46-38%) while high-interest voters are split at 46-47%
