HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 15, 2022) – Three water customers of the Holland Board of Public Works will need to go through the inconvenience of boiling their water for a little while.
That was because a water main broke on Thursday morning in the area of East 32nd Street and Windcrest Drive, east of Waverly Road. Customers at 573, 590 and 630 East 32nd Street are the only ones affected, as they received notification and instructions from the municipal utility.
Although the break was repaired on Thursday, the work necessitated depressurizing a section of the main, which could have allowed bacteria to enter the water system. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until results from tests on the water confirm that the water is safe for consumption, making ice or brushing teeth. Bathing is not affected by this advisory.
The BPW didn’t initially mention any timetable as to when the results from the water tests would be made available.
