It was time to head for perhaps the iconic spot in Holland.
The sun had just risen from the eastern horizon as we stepped onto Windmill Island Gardens today. The ticket booth wasn’t manned, for it was just over an hour from opening, so the buildings weren’t open, but it was a great morning to see what many visitors to the Tulip City come to see.
There was an occasional bicyclist or jogger (including one lady who was running barefoot!), and city parks department staffers were getting the village ready for another day of visitors, but it was a quiet scene at the home of the DeZwaan Windmill. A nice and peaceful start to the day!
