DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Matt Manning threw six scoreless frames as the Detroit Tigers defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-1 Wednesday afternoon.
Manning earned his first win on the mound after allowing just five hits and striking out eight.
Victor Reyes and Willi Castro each drove in a pair of runs for Detroit, which improved to 48-and-77. The Tigers scored all their runs in the fifth inning.
Logan Webb was charged the loss after giving up six runs in four-and-two-third innings of work. Tommy La Stella plated the lone run for San Francisco, which fell to 61-and-62.
The Tigers are off tonight. They will open a three game series at Texas Friday night.
