He was born on February 19, 1930, in Holland, MI. He attended Russcher School through the 8th grade in Holland, MI. In his later teen years, he felt the calling in his life to follow Christ. He graduated from Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music in 1954. After graduation, he went to New Tribes Mission in Wisconsin.While in Wisconsin, he met the love of his life, Esther Bernice Graybiel, and the two were married on October 29, 1955. Together Art and Esther served as missionaries in Panama for four years. They returned to the United States and settled in Holland in 1963 with their four children.
He had several jobs after returning from the mission field. Then he became self-employed, eventually starting Art Mulder & Son Trucking with his sons. They continued their ministry as a part of the newly formed Macedonia Bautista in Fennville, (with the church, ultimately relocating to Holland). He taught Sunday School, led worship, and preached while at Macedonia Church. He spoke the Spanish language as well.
He enjoyed working with his goats, singing, and being outdoors. He loved people, being in God’s word, and memorizing God’s word. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in October of 2021.
He is survived by his sons: Philip (Robin), Peter (Sally), Hanzel (Linda) from Holland, and daughter Laura of Pendleton, IN; grandchildren: Greg (Shannon) Mulder, Chad (Jill) Mulder, Casey (Megan) Mulder, Bradley (Suzanne) Mulder, Rachael (Tyler) Folkert, Sarah (Jacob) Revor, Curtis (Alicia) Mulder, Ryan (Lindsey) Mulder, Derek Mulder, Elliot (Jessica) Mulder; blessed with 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Roark of Shelby, N.C.; in-laws: Joan Mulder of St. Louis, MI, Nadine Graybiel of Chico, CA.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Immanuel Church, 325 104th Ave, Holland, MI 49423. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 26, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423.
The Mulder family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Holland, Mary Garza, Rita Broekhuis, Kim Dawes, and grandsons, Derek Mulder, Curtis Mulder, and granddaughter, Megan Mulder for their loving care in Art’s final years.
