SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Saturday, August 20, marked the one-year anniversary of a deadly shooting at the South Haven Pier.
It happened last year when 19-year-old Aidan Ingalls shot a couple at random before turning the gun on himself.
73-year-old Chuck Skuza died in the shooting while his wife Barbara, was left injured. She recovered from her injuries after being in the intensive care unit at Bronson hospital. The incident happened in front of hundreds of people who were at the pier, which sparked mass panic.
Police say Ingalls had plotted and planned to shoot up Paw Paw Highschool in 2018. Ingalls had a hit list and backpack full of guns, explosives, and ammunition, according to investigators.
Ingall’s mother, Karissa Ingalls, had turned him into the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
Following the 2018 incident, the Van Buren County judge denied prosecuting Ingalls as an adult. At the time, Ingalls was facing 10 felony weapon and explosive charges.
