GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Grand Rapids pharmaceutical manufacturer is jumping in to help mitigate the monkey pox outbreak.
Grand River Aseptic Manufacturing at 140 Front Avenue Southwest in Grand Rapids, has agreed to mass produce the monkey pox vaccine with the goal of increasing domestic vaccine supply.
The manufacturer entered into an agreement with a Denmark-based vaccine company to “fill and finish” the smallpox/monkeypox vaccine.
The company made the announcement on Friday.
“We are happy to play our part and are proud to be in a position to support Bavarian Nordic and the U.S. Government with the monkeypox outbreak response,” said Tom Ross, President and CEO of the company.
