CLEVELAND, OH (WKZO AM/FM) – Willi Castro homered but the Detroit Tigers fell 8-4 to the Guardians in Cleveland Wednesday night.
Detroit led 4-2 with two outs and nobody on in the last of the eighth. But a wild pitch by losing pitcher Andrew Chafin on a swinging third strike kept the inning alive. The Guardians took full advantage as they exploded for six runs thanks in part to doubles from Jose Ramirez and Oscar Gonzalez.
The Guardians are one game ahead of Minnesota for first place in the division. The Tigers are 45-and-75.
Detroit will host the Los Angeles Angels tomorrow night to start a three game weekend series.
