MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Tigers scored three runs in the top of the seventh during a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Akil Baddoo drove in the game tying run with a single, and Riley Greene put Detroit up for good in the inning with another RBI hit. Jason Foley earned his first MLB win out of the bullpen, and Gregory Soto picked up his 20th save of the season. Detroit snaps a three-game losing streak with the victory. Mark Contreras hit the first home run of his career in the losing effort, and Griffin Jax was charged with his third loss. The Twins have lost two of their last three. The rubber game of the three game series will be played this afternoon at Target Field.
The Tigers traded pitcher Michael Fulmer to the Twins at the deadline. In return, Detroit is receiving pitching prospect Sawyer Gipson-Long who has a 4.23 ERA across the minor leagues this season.
