HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC AM/FM) — A motorcyclist was serious injured in a crash with a Semi on Monday evening, August 1.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to reports of the Motorcycle vs. Semi personal injury accident at Adams Street at I-196 around 10:09 p.m. in Holland Township.
Investigation revealed that a 25-year-old from Zeeland was traveling eastbound on Adams Street riding a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle disregarded a red light at the on-ramp for westbound I-196 and struck a semi in the trailer as the semi was making a left turn onto the ramp. The semi, driven by a 67-year-old male from Oklahoma, did have the green light and right of way.
The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and sustained serious injuries.
He was transported by AMR to a local hospital. The driver of the semi was not injured in the crash.
