DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Danny Amendola is opting for retirement after considering another stint in the NFL.
The 36-year-old wide receiver told ESPN that he is retiring from the game of football. Amendola had reportedly received interest from multiple teams this offseason after he spent last season with the Texans.
The wideout caught 24 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns in his 13th season in the league. Amendola spent 2019-to-2020 with the Detroit Lions and recorded over 600 receiving yards in each of his two seasons in Detroit.
NFL training camps are getting underway for teams across the league. The Lions are having veterans report to camp today. The team already had rookies report to the Training Facility over the weekend.
The Lions kick off their preseason schedule on Friday, August 12 against the Atlanta Falcons at home.
