HOLLAND, MI (WKZO, AM/FM) — A 20-year-old male is in stable condition in the hospital after being rescued from Lake Macatawa on Monday, July 11.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office reports that the rescue happened around 12:40 p.m. when deputies were dispatched to Lake Macatawa in the area of Ottawa Beach Road and Black Lake Avenue in Park Township for a subject that was drowning.
Multiple units arrived on scene but could not locate anyone in distress.
About 27 minutes later, a witness called Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority and said that a 20-year-old male patient had been removed from the water and was being driven to a local hospital by family members.
Investigation revealed that six friends were on a boat when one of the entered the water and was unable to swim.
After a short period of time, others on the boat were able to retrieve the victim from the water and get him back to shore, where he was put into a vehicle, and driven to a local hospital.
