BOSTON, MA (WKZO AM/FM) – Franchy Cordero went three-for-four with a pair of RBI as the Boston Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 Monday night.
Josh Winckowski picked up his second victory of the season after holding the Tigers to two runs over six and two-thirds pitched.
Alex Faedo was charged with the loss after allowing five runs, four of them earned, in four and a third of work for Detroit. Javier Baez went two-for-four with a couple of doubles.
The Tigers are now 26-and-41 while the Red Sox improve to 37-and-31.
The second game of the three game series is tonight at Fenway Park, with the opening pitch at 7:10 p.m.
