ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man police say was wanted on several warrants and who had also made “assaultive threats” in the South Haven area back on May 31 has been taken into custody.
According to news releases from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office and the South Haven Police Department, 33-year-old Benjamin Ewart was taken into custody by Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputies on Tuesday, June 14.
Police found Ewart after Allegan County Central Dispatch had gotten a tip that an individual with several felony warrants out of the South Haven Police Department was staying at a campground in Clyde Township. Deputies then verified that he was wanted and found him in a tent.
Ewart had made the threats back on Memorial Day in the 16000 block of 77th Street near Blue Star Highway in South Haven Township.
Warrants had also been authorized for prior incidents including a separate felonious assault with a dangerous weapon/habitual offender and a misdemeanor larceny. Ewart is now lodged at the Allegan County Jail awaiting arraignment.
