HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan State Police Paw Paw Post is investigating a shooting and unlawful imprisonment that happened Wednesday morning, June 8, around 5:30 a.m. in Van Buren County.
According to police, the incident took place in the 62000 block of 63rd Street in Hartford Township.
Authorities say the 41-year-old suspect who was recently released from prison and armed with a handgun, held two people he was acquainted with against their will inside a non-motorized RV.
Statements from both victims and evidence at the scene indicated that multiple shots were fired inside the RV, with one of the rounds grazing one of the victims, a 58-year-old Hartford man in the head. He was later transported to the hospital for additional medical evaluation and is expected to make a full recovery.
The second victim, a 44-year-old man, also from Hartford, was uninjured.
The suspect was immediately located and arrested without incident. He is lodged at the Van Buren County jail on multiple charges, including various firearms violations and unlawful imprisonment.
