LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 20, 2022) – Three Allegan County entities are among over 60 statewide sharing five million dollars from Michigan’s First Responder Training and Grant Program.
Allegan County, along with Saugatuck and Overisel Townships, will receive a total of $162,000 for training and recruitment of police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and corrections officers. The state Department of Treasury determined recipients of these competitive grants based on program purpose, eligibility and other criteria, and projects are funded on a reimbursement basis.
As for when these entities will receive the cash, “Our priority will be to make payments to communities as soon as practical,” said State Treasurer Rachel Eubanks in a department statement.
