ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WKZO AM/FM) – The woes continue for the Detroit Tigers.
Detroit fell 6-1 to the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday afternoon in St. Petersburg. If that wasn’t bad enough, a former Tiger had a big day at the plate and yet another Detroit pitcher is heading to the injured list.
Tampa Bay’s Isaac Paredes homered twice against his former team. He only hit one homer for the Tigers in 2020 and 2021. Paredes was traded before the season for Austin Meadows.
Meanwhile, Tiger starter Eduardo Rodriguez left the game after recording one out with a sore left side. Manager A.J. Hinch said he will be out “for a bit”. After signing a $77 million contract, Rodriguez is 1-3 with a 4.38 ERA. Spencer Torkelson homered in the loss.
The Tigers are 13-and-25 on the season.
Detroit is idle tonight. They continue their nine game road trip tomorrow night in the opener of a weekend series in Cleveland.
