KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Milestone Senior Services, formerly Senior Services of Southwest Michigan, announced Thursday their New Home, New Hope campaign, a fundraising effort to renovate and expand their headquarters at 918 Jasper Street in Kalamazoo.
At a special gathering at the Warner Building in downtown Kalamazoo, the announcement was made to Milestone staff, supporters, and contributors that the campaign has now raised just over $1,500,000 to to date.
The organization provides programming for seniors and adults with disabilities, including Meals on Wheels to Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties as well as Allegan, Barry, Branch, St.Joseph, and Van Buren counties.
Officials say the facility will greatly improve access for clients, increase program efficiency, and help mitigate flooding issues. Other improvements to include updated kitchen equipment for increased capacity, a separate, covered Home Repair space to allow for the completion of more projects, along with a covered entrance for Meals on Wheels volunteers.
Milestone Senior Services Chief Executive Officer Richard Klein said that he was proud of how hihs staff adapted to the changes and increased caseload brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and is confident that the $3 million dollar goal will be met over the next few months with renovations beginning this Fall.
