WASHINGTON DC (WKZO AM/FM) – The Environmental Protection Agency has announced that it is looking into some plans that could result in a reduction in PFAS pollution.
The proposed methods would operate by pulling PFAS out of contaminated soil and sludge.
PFAS is a group of chemical pollutants that were used in the manufacture of numerous products, and health experts say that it’s likely that a vast majority of Americans have some trace of PFAS in their systems.
The four possible proposals include mechanical removal, electrical currents through contaminated material, high temperature burning of materials, and a process that uses water at very high temperatures to separate the contaminates.
The agency has set up a department to research each possible solution.
