ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 28, 2022) – While Hope College students prepare for final exams next week, Grand Valley State students look ahead to graduation ceremonies this weekend.
Three separate ceremonies are planned for Van Andel Arena, as over 3,150 Lakers receive their sheepskins in that downtown Grand Rapids facility for the first time in three years due to COVID 19 health protocols. Liberal arts & sciences grads are honored tomorrow at 7 PM, with business, health professions and nursing on Saturday at 10 AM, and engineering & computing, interdisciplinary studies and education & community innovation on Saturday at 3 PM. GVSU President Philomena Mantella gives the commencement address, and delivering student remarks are Amela Aganovic, Gerard Cooke and Tamara Jones.
Masking is at this point optional, and a live stream of each ceremony will be available through the GVSU website.
Hope College’s commencement ceremony is slated for Sunday, May 8th at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium, with the option of moving proceedings to DeVos Fieldhouse if weather conditions warrant it.
