CLEARWATER, FL (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Tigers nearly overcame a five-run deficit in an 8-7 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in Spring Training action yesterday.
The Tigers struck for four runs in the eighth inning, but couldn’t tie things up in the ninth. Spencer Torkelson, Akil Baddoo, Victor Reyes, and Gage Workman all went deep in the loss, while Casey Mize pitched four-and-a-third innings, giving up three runs.
The Tigers send Tarik Skubal to the mound against the Blue Jays today.
