HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 29, 2022) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting that occurred Monday morning at a business in Holland Township. Deputies responded to Adient at 205 Douglas Avenue around 6:48 AM after receiving a call about a person with a gun who reportedly shot another person at the business.
The suspect was identified as 55-year-old David Moses Martinez, and more than five hours after contacting him at an apartment unit, he was taken into custody around 7:45 PM without incident. According to Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, Martinez was lodged at the Ottawa County Jail after being medically cleared, and awaits arraignment in Holland District Court on charges of assault with intent to commit murder, discharge of a firearm inside of a building, felony firearm possession and being an habitual offender.
An unnamed 51-year-old female was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries after receiving a gunshot wound during the incident. Police say the suspect and victim knew each other.
The case remains open, and anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Ottawa County Silent Observer.
