GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 22, 2022) – Apparently there were some anxious moments at the Ottawa County Courthouse in Grand Haven on Tuesday morning.
According to Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, deputies and Grand Haven municipal police units descended upon the building off of Washington Avenue around 10:30 AM on a report of a phone threat. A soft lockdown was placed “in order to ensure the safety of the staff and public,” Sparks said in a department statement.
A canine unit from the Grand Valley Department of Public Safety was deployed, and access to the facility was limited until approximately 1:05 PM, when the all-clear had been sounded. “It has been determined that there (was) no imminent danger to anyone at the Courthouse, and nothing suspicious was found during a search of the building,” Sparks said.
The investigation into the source and the purpose of the threat continues, and anyone with any information on the matter is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer (877-88-SILENT).
