HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 11, 2022) – One of the first events to fall victim to COVID 19 health protocols two years ago has returned.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in Holland begins on Saturday with an 5K St. Patty’s Leprechaun Chase at 9 AM, hosted by the Holland Running Club and winding through downtown Holland toward the finish line at Windmill Island. At 11 AM, outside of The Curragh Traditional Irish Pub on East 8th Street, there will be a scavenger hunt for gift cards from participating local retailers, and the parade east on 8th Street, from the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place to the Curragh, starts at 12 Noon.
Greg Behan of The Curragh is one of the event’s organizers who had to make the call in 2020 to cancel the event. “It was, basically, the day before two years ago (when it was called off), and we’ve been sitting here waiting patiently to get going again, and here we are,” he said on “WHTC Morning News” during a Monday appearance. “It’s been a long two years. Last year we tried (to make it work), but it just wasn’t there yet, so we’re excited, and it’s going to be a great day.”
ut-cue: a great day]
