LAKELAND, FL (WKZO AM/FM) – Even though Minor League players are in camp, the Major League portion of the Detroit Tigers Lakeland, Florida training facility is quiet right now.
There is a new deadline for Major League Baseball and MLB Players Association to come together on a collective bargaining agreement.
According to reports, the two sides made major progress overnight on a deal and a new deadline was established for 5:00 p.m. Eastern Tuesday.
The sides reportedly made progress in multiple areas, including expanded playoffs. The new deadline is to avoid the cancellation of any games.
The Tigers are scheduled to opening Spring training schedule against the Philadelphia Phillies next Tuesday, march 8, with Opening Day for the regular season currently March 31 at Seattle.
