ANN ARBOR, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – University of Michigan head men’s basketball coach Juwan Howard has been suspended for the final five games of the regular season for his part in an altercation following Sunday’s loss at Wisconsin.
Howard was also fined $40,000. Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard was fined $10,000 and U of M players Moussa Diabate and Terrance Williams the second and Wisconsin’s’ Jahcobi Neath were each suspended one game.
Howard apologized for his part in the post game altercation. Howard said in a statement that he realizes how unacceptable his actions and words were and offered his sincere apologies to players, fans and Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft.
A meeting will be held after the suspension to determine if he will return to the bench for the Big Ten Tournament and any postseason play.
Associate head coach Phil Martelli will lead the Wolverines starting with tomorrow’s game against Rutgers.
