TORONTO ONT CA (WKZO AM/FM) – A study conducted regarding the controversial Enbridge Line #5 has indicated that there are other options available to meet Canada’s energy needs if the pipeline were shut down.
Environmental Defence Canada initiated the report, which asked experts in the oil and gas sector if there are other avenues to provide the energy demand of the country.
The study mentioned an expansion of Enbridge Line #78, which extends from Illinois to Sarnia, Ontario, much of it through Michigan, and also expanding rail car facilities at refineries in Ontario and Quebec.
Enbridge officials criticized the study, saying it was “misguided” and that the shutdown of Line 5 would present an economic hardship to the region and negatively affect jobs as well.
