LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has changed its mask guidance, dropping its school masking recommendation and recommending universal masking only inside high-risk congregate places as COVID-19 infection rates continue to drop.
Because of current conditions, MDHHS has withdrawn its Public Health Advisory on Masking in Indoor Public Settings, including school settings, which recommended every person in indoor public places to wear masks, whether they were vaccinated or not.
In its updated guidance, MDHHS is recommending that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to continue wearing masks in high-risk congregate settings, including long-term care facilities, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, jails and health care facilities.
