HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 15, 2022) – The future of a school in the Holland Public School system may be discussed today.
The Board of Education’s Teaching for Learning Committee has a 3:30 PM session at the Media Center in Holland Heights Elementary School to discuss a possible collaboration between the district and Holland’s Outdoor Discovery Center that could lead to “positioning” that school into a nature-based school. Interim superintendent Nick Cassidy said that the district has been in talks with the Outdoor Discovery Center for the last couple of months on “re-imagining” that school and what it would look like.
“It’s in close proximity to several different parks,” Cassidy explained on “WHTC Talk of the Town” during a Tuesday appearance. “Outdoor Discovery Center is not too far away from there, and then you have Van Raalte Farm, so we’re tying this in and looking at, as we go through this new ‘Bond and Build’ project, what does this look like to update the school itself.”
No final decision will be made before the matter is put before the entire Board for consideration.
