HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 13, 2022) – A couple of free virtual events in February could help Holland area residents look up their family tree.
Herrick District Library presents a “Jumpstart Your Genealogy Research” program on Wednesday (Feb. 16). From 6:30 to 8:30 PM, local genealogist Megan Heyl will share tips on finding and using local and statewide genealogical resources. “The program will not only give suggestions of where to look for information, but will also give helpful hints from experiences of many genealogists, which will help make your heritage journey a successful one,” HDL librarian May VanderKooy said in a library statement.
The second session, “Genealogy Road Trips – Don’t Forget to …,” is the following Wednesday (Feb. 23), with Heyl spotlighting some topics that may be overlooked when researching family history during the same two-hour time frame. “For those who are interested in doing research at their local library, or for those who may be taking a trip to other places to do genealogical research, there are ways to make your research trip more successful,” VanderKooy added.
During both sessions, library staffers will go over the new genealogy section of the HDL website.
Although both virtual sessions are free, preregistration is required through the website.
