DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Tigers will retire former second baseman Lou Whitaker’s number 1 August 6, 2022.
Whitaker and shortstop Allen Trammell were the most prolific double play team in Detroit’s history.
Sweet Lou played his entire 19 year career with the Tigers beginning in 1977 and was a member of the 1984 World Series Championship team.
